ACOR FellowshipsThe American Center of OrientaT Research (Amman) offers the following 1997-98 grants and fellowships: The Kress Fellowship in the Art and Archeology of Jordan, two or more six-month fellowships for predoctoral students completing dissertation research, maximum award $14,000; U.S. Information Agency fellowships, five or more two- to six-month fellowships for pre-doctoral students and post-doctoral scholars, maximum award $14,000, U.S. citizenship required; Near and Middle East Research and Training Program (NMERTP) Senior Post-Doctoral Research Grants, two or more four- to nine-month fellowships for scholars pursuing research or publication projects, with preference given to scholars with limited prior experience in the Middle East, maximum award $34,700, U.S. citizenship required; NMERTPPre-Doctoral Fellowships, two or more two-to four-month fellowships for students with little or no previous experience in the Middle Last, maximum award $10,100, U.S. citizenship required; National Endowment for the Humanities Post-Doctoral Research, one four- to six-month fellowship; Jennifer C. Groot Fellowship, one or more $1,500 awards to bettinners in archeological fieldwork, open to undergraduate and graduate students. All except Groot fellowships are subject to funding; application deadline for all fellowships is Feb. 1.
