A Week And A Half At Bizzarro Cafe
We were all sitting around watching TV
When someone switched to the Christian station
To sample the view from eternity
The plight of the most worldly nation
After a couple of seconds
All the vivid conversations about the tragedy hushed
Eyes and ears transfixed on the screen
Well, there it was on this opulent stage
It looked like Las Vegas or something
All this glitter and flashing lights
costumes and choreography
Here's this guy, Carman, up there
Singing, no, rapping
Asserting all these pictures
Controlling our uncontrollable minds
Flags waving
Soldiers in battle
Smoke all around
Bombs exploding
The face of Jesus
Blood dripping off His brow
Throbbing from the thorns
Into His agony
His desolation and utter despair
Into His soulful eyes
Looking up to heaven
Dying on the cross
Bayonets and bullets maiming, killing
To wash away our sins
Chrysler tanks emblazoned with insignia
Reminiscent of the 3rd Reich
The Holy Roman Empire
The legions of imperial pharaohs
Conan the Barbarian
Rolling imperiously through vanquished cities
For our eternal redemption
Fighter jets bombing some faceless "canaanites" into oblivion
To return the lands of Zion to the chosen tribes of "God"
To assure abundant burnt offerings
For the New Temple yet to be rebuilt
To give American Manifest Destiny another wink
And worse, another affirmative nod
White-washing brains
The words start coming into focus...
“Everybody! there's joy in the battle,
so we commence to change this nation's course!
The kingdom of God suffereth violence,
and the violent take it by force!”
I started feeling nauseous
You could tell the others were viscerally upset
Some were weeping and sobbing
Holding each other's hands
Knuckles white
Skin tight
Some just sat there
Listening
Paling
Trembling
Hardly breathing
Then more images
Storming at our cognitive gates
Permeating our semi-permeable meme-brains
Impervious we thought...
"God's got an army! He's not afraid to fight!
Soldiers of the cross! And children of the light!
Warriors of righteousness! With healing in their hands!
God's got an army! Marching through the land!"
It never really subsides
Even now
The images remain
Stained with blood and hate
Eyes open wide and closed extremely tight
In the evening and the morning
Every day and every night
Clouding everything we think and say
Driving us thoroughly and inevitably
In every conceivable way
Totally insane
Maybe never to abate
At the time I thought it pretty strange
Even after the violent vignettes faded off the screen
And the speaker blast attenuated by half
We sat lost in drifts of horror
Mostly deaf and mostly dumb
Hardly noticing the assertions of "Macro Evolution"
Droning in the slack
This hadn't merely hurt us
But stabbed us mostly mortal
Slightly left of center
In the middle of our back
Until then
We had endured 24 hours
Of excruciating malevolence
And our hearts and cognition
Purely held no malice for any victim
And they were all victims
And we saw few or none as innocents
At least in the totality of things
Each and every one of us felt and feel still
To the very pith and marrow
At the heart of all our souls
The deep and abiding pain and sorrow
Of 6,000 more senseless cries
6,000 priceless souls
And their dubious demise
Added to the infernal, eternal funeral pyre
Baptized if not by faith, then certainly by ire
No matter what fiendish plot was hatched
That might have caused their hasty dispatch
Or to which state, despotic or psychotic
They might have paid a fealty
To purchase what by every Human's Right
Should be absolutely free
And not just superfluous meiotic
Around a border-less world
Where sea to sea shining bright
Means both they and we
To live life free and happiest
And not merely slave to subsist
On someone's usurped realty
Or sometimes worse, to live in forced American banality
Where freedom does not exist
Except the word to say and yell
Except in some meaningless constitutional shell
Where the reality is some Bizzarro twist
For an ever growing human swell
A fiendish living nightmare Hell
And yes, they should have heard and felt the cries
Their taxes surely subsidize
At least their master's cruel retort
To abuse their "innocent" support
The fear and loathing it does extort
The incessant terror it does export
Which much more likely, reason should theorize
Early closed their once bright eyes
But be that as it may
This dam's been broke since genesis day
And it doesn't change the deadly pale
Big bang or ancestral tribal tale
Each of us had long ago
By divergent ways and means
Chosen steadfast paths sans swords and fists
Of poets, prophets, and gentle folks
Far too few and far between
Of ones in times like these, whose memes of peaceful vision
All too often cause their violent end
In some tyrant's immoral prison
Who hold fast most humane beliefs
Of Non-Violent Activism
Whose heartfelt catechism
Is scribed in total contradiction
To the elitist blood-soaked beasts
The architects of civilization's most vile defeats
The seamiest sides of earth's oldest schism
We spent all our lives and years
Subduing all our nascent fears
Releasing memes of love and bliss
Then here and now with such amiss
They've all been sprayed with deadly piss
And once again we're eyes to eyes
Slipping quickly down the sloping sides
Into the dreaded dark abyss
Living again what we all despise
Where peace and love at once abate
Morphing too easy to war and hate
Where ancient memes we all adore
Let's make the love and not the war
Let's live free or give our life
Are turned upside down and inside out
Without debate or second's doubt
Are trodden by what we all abhor
And not by infidels, pagans and witches
Of long ago and days of yore
But politicians, high priests, and other whores
Who owe their souls to worldwide company stores
And a few sons (and daughters) of the wealthiest bitches
Who wave their flags high and insidious snide
Who always blame the other side
Never cast aspersions where they should reside
On their own evil incarnate hide
On their own pathetic "manly" pride
And now we face the shameful morass
Where our jury rigged executive and his brown nosed staffs
Have proclaimed by 'Justice', just what they meme
They spit the wad felt round the world
The one they made from a bushwhacker's drool
The one that should’ve flushed the damned fool
I guess that one’s just my utopian dream
Instead it’s given him omnipotent steam...
"Uh yeh, I reckon I know what it mean", he drawled
"It mean Josh Randall, Palladin, and Judge Roy Bean
And that what's found round Abilene
On channels 4 and 7 and sometimes 13"
"We don't want to hear of fair jurisprudence
Nor see any proofs of certain innocence
We don't need no stinking evidence
Haven't you heard, are you really that dense
We're God's chosen emperors of divine providence
We've already judged them guilty, without a doubt
So hand em over preferably dead or if you must alive
Or without a word of conservative compassionate jive
We'll rub you all out, you won't survive
We'll burn down your cities, we'll crumble your towns
We'll starve your children, till they have no more breath
Your women and men will suffer agony and death
Don't for a second question our sacred resolve
Or by any means, fair or foul, we will your society, quickly dissolve
Don't bother to whine of their innocent plight
Don't look to us for any humane light
All through our history for these barbarous acts
We've always been proud and world renown
That's the plain and simple facts
God's blessed us with Destiny, graced us with Might
We're squashing your freedom and life by His Holy Will
He's given us exemption from "Thou shalt not kill"
I heard it personally from Jesus's fount
When I took the pilgrimage to the Holy Mount
I heard in my head plain and clear, He clarified what He told us before
What He meant by "Blessed are the Peacemakers", He said I'm shor [sure]
Was not those evil dissenters of His Dad's holy wars
But rather the likes of tomahawk missiles, cluster bombs, and Colt 44s
He said He'd make sure we'd overcome, by hook or by crook
He said it's plainly written between the lines, in His Daddy's Bestselling Book
And while He was at it, He took time to point out
The divinely inspired but misprinted "Liberty and Justice for All"
In the facetious Pledge of Allegiance scrawl
Means you give up your liberty and justice, and we take yer auwl [your oil]
Those Peacemakers of mass destruction, we're suffering no dearth
So rest assured, like it or not, we will inherit the earth
Do you get my drifts, do you comprendo my gists
Either you bend to my will, illegal or not
Or you're outlaw evildoer terrorists
And your lives aren't worth a piece of Texan snot!"
Stab humanity in the back again! we rudely thought
What had those black robed idiots wrought
Those dung for brains judges
Those scurrilous sludges
The ones that had gall unmitigated
To cancel the vote and crown the jerk
And call it Supremely pontificated
Just another tyrant's perk
So it took a week and a half
To come to lightspeed pass
Constitutions and laws from down through the ages
From all jurisdictions
Have been replaced by what boggles all Human Rights sages
Cheap tawdry lies and old TV fictions
And just when we thought we'd seen the most crass
Hope springs eternal in this lowly class
Standing up at attention in straight, straight lines
No, it's not Miss Clavel, it's not Madeline
It's all the world's leaders
The whole ruling class
Eagerly waiting to do once again
What they've done so often in the past
Dance that same old Hokey Pokey
To Uncle Sam's bloody tune
Give their Loyal Okey Dokey
To an Alfred E Newman faced buffoon
To join right in the amoral slaughter
To take the tyrant's word for guilt
No matter that deceit and lies, are too often of what it's built
To stick their royal heads deeply
To the shame of all our species
Into his reeking rectal sphincter
To concoct humankind's deadly tincture
With his stinking presidential feces
For 30 pieces of silver from which humanity’s blood incessantly spouts
That try as they may
Try as they might
They'll never get them fully out
They'll forever have to pay and pay
They'll never again see Justice or precious Human Rights
Then do the Hokey Pokey and turn themselves around
That's what it's all about
To fight America’s bogus fights
To ignore the horrors, ignore the plights
Of 600,000 innocent Iraqi and Palestinian children
Screaming for their parents, in the lonely dark of eternal night
Who Americans surely did casually smite
Never even a shred contrite
For leaving generations post de facto barren
For spreading their terror, their tyrannic blight
For extinguishing reason, for snuffing its light
And then it came in below the waist
One more heinous crude distaste
Quite possibly our coup de grace
We learned these monstrous mendacious memes
So plain to us of vicious themes
Have mesmerized the general populace
To wave the flags and hate by race
And thus engage a lethal embrace
This world class shame and grievous disgrace
They've led them to anger and hate betroth
And cloak themselves in tainted wedding cloth
What's red, white and blue on its face
Was woven on a demon's loom
Of blue Satan's Silk and white Lucifer's Lace
And a blood red warp of Human Doom
And though they've scored a mortal dent
With megatons of tyrannic excrement
And though we've cognitive pain from head to toe
We won't give up, we won't let go
Unless of course the remorseless scum
Blow us all to kingdom come
As long as we can dig in our cognitive feet
We never ever will retreat
And while our calculations we so recently thought
Were surely accurate and clearly taut
We figured to bring on the Aquarian Dawn
In one or two centuries, probably not less
And though at the moment we can't venture a guess
Because of the evildoer plague spreading odiums
The measure's more likely in millenniums
