Hi everyone,
I've also been searching for Cheb Mami's lyrics and their meaning. Here's what
I found:
Hadi Muda Tweela Wana Nhawis ana Wa A'la Ghazalti
Or.." wanan hawissa ana al ghazalati
He says: It has been a long time that i am looking for my beauty( my love).
'Omri Fiki Antiya Ma Ghir Anitya
The arabic translation is as follows:
It has been a long time,
And I am looking for myself and my loved one
And I am looking for myself and my loved one
And I am looking for myself and my loved one
My life is for you,
And no one other than you.
Hi guys,
I was trying to find the english translation of the arabic words of Cheb Mami
in Desert Rose, just to see how his words are translated in English, which i
think is the opposite of what you guys are trying to find.
See, Cheb Mami is Algerian, just as I am, and the language he sings with is not
exactly Arabic, it's a mixture of Berber and Arabic , but for an Arab from the
middle East, the Algerian language is very hard to understand, since we
pronouce words differently.
Anyway, Mami's words are very very poetic, hence very hard to translate 'cause
they'll loose most of their meaning.
But I tried to translate it for you, in order to end this confusion:
* My night, Oh my night (referring to his beloved, who's as beautiful as the
clear gorgeous desert nights (I've been there trust me!))
* This has been an eternity since I've been looking for my (Ghouzelleti)
gazelle
* Eventhough I long to see her and finally meet her to hold her in my arms
forever, i would prefer to keep her in my mind like a secret poem.
*model her and make her look more beautiful inside and out.
From what I understand, I think Mami is trying to say that the woman has only
existed in his mind and soul and not in reality. Even the tone of voices he
uses mean so much in his words.
And that's about it. I hope that this will give you a clearer view of what he
means.
By the way, if any of you get the chance to see Mami in Concert, don't ever
miss it. I've been to one, and believe me, the guy will give you shivers down
your spine with his extrodinary voice.
If anyone needs any translation, i'll be more than happy to.
