For those of you not in the know, "India pata rajada" is an insult peculiar to
Mexicans and Mexican-Americans. Literally, it means "Indian woman with slashed
(that is, roughened, feet). Since most mestizos and native peoples went
barefoot or wore rough sandals, their feet were roughened and callused,
divulging their social class and standing in Mexican society after Spanish
conquest.
This illuminating contributor to our forum also asked "Ya te secaste la
espalda" (have you dried your back yet) apparently alluding to the fact that I
must be an illegal (wetback to most ignorant bastards).
And to top it all off, I am a naca (see Poetry section), I am not aware of the
origins of this word, but it is frequently used to denote a Mexican who is of
Indian descent or unworldly, still a country bumpkin.
I would guess this person is from Northern Mexico or possibly Mexico City,
certainly considers herself to be of the elite and now lives in the U.S. and
has for some time.
