That you are trying to define "Arabs" in accordance with Western concepts of
race, religion, and nationality. The original Arabs may have been
predominantly of the same ethnic origin, but in their view they did not belong
to a particular nation, as we think of it, nor did they necessarily think of
themselves as being from a specific religion or race. In fact, the original
Arabs simply did not distinguish themselves as "Arabs" from the rest of the
world. This is a modern concept that just doesn't apply. They originally
distinguished themselves as being from particular families, period. They were
nomadic peoples, and as such the distinctions of race and religion had no
relevant meaning to them. What family or families they encountered, traded
with, and arranged marriages with was important.
But to answer your question, Arabs are basically from northwestern Arabia. I
suspect the reason a Libian national would care about what is happening in Iraq
or Iran, or one of he other middle eastern countries, is in fact based upon
more of a religious connection than a racial, ethinc, or national origin link.
:I didn't say Arabs are Muslim. I'm Trying to figure out the connection among
:us. I'm trying to figure out the Arab nationalism philosophy. It's important
to
:know. If I'm Libyan and my ethnicity is Berber and Turkish, why should I care
:for what is happening Iraq or Palestine. Again I'm just asking question and
I'm
:not trying to put any one down.
